Are There Animals in Heaven?
Yes. The Bible shows animals in God’s realm and promises them in the world to come.
Scriptural explanation:
- Heaven: The Bible says heaven opened and the Lord came on a white horse, and “the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses” (Revelation 19:11,14). Elisha also saw “horses and chariots of fire” around him (2 Kings 6:17). You see, that’s a heavenly scene including animals.
- The Kingdom on earth: When the curse is lifted under Christ’s reign, creation is restored. “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb… the lion shall eat straw like the ox… they shall not hurt nor destroy” (Isaiah 11:6–9; 65:25). Romans 8:19–22 says all creation groans now, but will be delivered into the liberty of the sons of God. So animals are included in that restoration.
- Their nature: Animals are not redeemed like people. Man has a soul that goes upward to God, but the beast’s spirit is earthly (Ecclesiastes 3:21). God cares even for the sparrow (Matthew 10:29), yet salvation is about the new birth in man. Animals share the blessing of a lifted curse, not the redemption of a soul.
Simple logic:
- If Scripture shows horses in heaven, then animals are present in that realm.
- If the coming Kingdom restores creation to peace, then animals will certainly be there.
- But they are not in the same class as the redeemed; they are part of creation under our redemption, not partakers of the new birth.
So, yes—there are animals in heaven, and there will be animals in Christ’s restored Kingdom. Not three classes of salvation—just one Redeemer for man—yet the whole creation benefits when the curse is removed.
