Have I Blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

- Now notice what the Bible calls it. Jesus said, “All sins shall be forgiven… but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness” (Mark 3:28–30). Why? - But the Bible also shows that not every kind of blasphemy is this sin. Paul said he was “a blasphemer… but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief” (1 Timothy 1:13).
- And God still invites the penitent: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us” (1 John 1:9). “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).

- You see, the unpardonable sin is not a rash fear, a passing doubt, or an ugly thought shot into your mind. Tempting thoughts are darts; sin is when you receive and willfully side with them. The unpardonable sin is a settled, knowing, hardened rejection—calling the clear work of the Holy Spirit “unclean,” and trampling the Blood after full light.
- The one who has crossed that line is not seeking repentance; there’s no pull, no tears—“My Spirit shall not always strive with man” (Genesis 6:3). If you feel the pull to come, confess, and honor Jesus Christ, the Spirit is still striving with you.
- Some say a careless word proves you’re lost. But then how did Paul obtain mercy after blasphemy? The Bible makes the difference: ignorance can be forgiven; willful hatred of known truth is what condemns.
