Will There Be Sex in Heaven?

No. In heaven, in the resurrection, there will be no sex and no marriage. The saints will be like the angels, and the union we rejoice in is our spiritual oneness with Christ.

- Jesus said, “In the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven” (Matthew 22:30). Luke adds, “They which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection… neither marry… neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels” (Luke 20:34-36).
- The “marriage supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19:7-9) is the celebration of the redeemed being joined to Christ. Ephesians says earthly marriage is “a great mystery” pointing to “Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:31-32). That union is spiritual, not carnal.
- Our bodies will be changed: “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 15:50). We will be raised in glory and power (1 Corinthians 15:42-44), fashioned like His glorious body (Philippians 3:21). In that state there is no death, no curse (Revelation 21:4; 22:3), so the earthly order of marrying and multiplying no longer applies.
3) Simple Clarifying Logic
- Marriage and sexual relations belong to this mortal life for companionship and the raising of children. But in the resurrection there is no death, so no need to replenish the earth. That’s why Jesus said we will be like the angels—alive forever, not entering into marriage.
- Our joy and love will be higher, fuller, and purer—perfect fellowship with God and with one another—without the pull of earthly appetites. The “marriage” then is the true spiritual union: Christ in His Bride.
