Can a True Believer Lose Their Salvation?
1) Direct Answer
No. A true, born‑again believer cannot lose their salvation. A real child of God may stumble and be corrected, but the life that God puts in them is kept. Those who fully turn back and stay away only show they were never truly born again.
2) Scriptural Explanation
- The Bible says, “My sheep hear My voice… I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand… out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:27–29). That settles it—never perish.
- “After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise… until the redemption” (Ephesians 1:13–14; 4:30). If the Holy Spirit seals you “unto the day of redemption,” that seal holds.
- “Whom He justified, them He also glorified… Nothing shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:30–39). From purpose to glory, God keeps His own.
- “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). He finishes what He starts.
- “They went out from us, but they were not of us” (1 John 2:19). Falling away proves they were never truly in.
- “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin… his seed remaineth in him” (1 John 3:9). The new birth plants a holy nature that won’t live in sin.
- “Whom the Lord loves He chastens” (Hebrews 12:6–8). Sons may be disciplined, but not disowned.
- The prodigal was always a son, even in the far country (Luke 15). Fellowship was broken; sonship remained.
3) Simple Clarifying Logic
- Eternal life is eternal. If you can lose it, it wasn’t eternal.
- If the Holy Spirit seals you until the day of redemption, who can break God’s seal—sin, Satan, or self? The Bible says no.
- Jesus is the Good Shepherd. If a true sheep is lost forever, did the Shepherd fail?
- “The gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29). God does not change His mind about His own.
4) Reinforcing Statement
You see, a true believer is kept by the power of God. He may grieve the Spirit and be chastened, but he will be restored. If someone permanently walks away, the Scripture says they were never of us. Walk softly, keep yielded to the Spirit, and rest in what God has done—He keeps what He saves.
